Middle Creek Wildlife Refuge, Kleinsfeltersville, PA

The Tundra Swans and Snow Geese return each year, in March, to fill the sky with a thousand wings in one swoop, along side of Canadian Geese. When migration ends, the mass of visitors and photographers leave and Whitetail Deer flit through the trees along Middle Creek, to roam openly once again.

Gathering daily, the flock teams into the thousands.

Honking begins, announcing a swirl of activity and suddenly the sky is filled with Tundra Swans and Snows Geese.

Landing is standing room only. The waters of Middle Creek spill over to crowded banks. Along the finger like tributaries of Middle Creek, Canadian Geese find a more secluded space.

Migration is short lived. Tundra Swans and Snow Geese leave Middle Creek. By May, Middle Creek belongs to hearty Canadian Geese, small flocks of Great Blue Heron, Great White Egrets and other year round inhabitants.
